Tauplitz – alpine & cross-country skiing, and freeriding in Styria
Enjoying winter to your heart's content
Lots of snow, glorious sunshine, and 360-degree panoramic views: The Tauplitz truly is a natural spectacle. Plus - it's the biggest individual ski area and likely the best freeride terrain in all of Styria. Not to mention those beautiful winter hiking paths. Sure to bring joy to your heart!
Tauplitz is located in the Ausseerland - Salzkammergut region and is the biggest individual ski area in Styria. 43 kilometers of pistes divided across three mountains – the Mitterstein, Lawinenstein, and Schneiderkogel – with the Tauplitzalm connecting all three. On those broad slopes, there's something perfect for every skier: challenging, extended runs - or pleasant, gentler hills for families and more laid-back fans of winter sports.
Premium pistes, lots of snow and sunshine, panoramic views
Our top-notch ski slopes are mainly above the tree line. With just a little bit of luck, you will be able to ski in radiant sunshine from early in the morning until evening. We have snow in abundance as well – in fact, Tauplitz is one of the snowiest ski resorts in the Alps. Modern snowmaking equipment is an additional guarantee for an ultra-long winter season.
Tons of lines, pristine powder, variety-packed terrain
Tauplitz is generally regarded as the best freeride terrain in Styria – ultra diverse on the one hand, though also easy to navigate. On our three ski mountains, you will find many different lines - both obvious ones and more hidden - along with steep slopes and often the finest powder imaginable – it's no exaggeration to claim the Tauplitz is the very definition of a snow trap! Sunny, with amazing 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding mountain world: Here with us, you develop a real sense of what "freedom" truly means!
Winter hikes, car-free area, jaw-dropping nature
In
winter, the Tauplitzalm is car-free – something you feel as soon as you arrive:
up here, time moves differently, more mindfully, in step with nature. Along the
clearly marked, perfectly maintained winter hiking trails, you walk - if the
weather cooperates - in bright sunshine, with sweeping panoramic views of
hundreds of mountain peaks. One day on the Tauplitzalm is as regenerating as an
entire long weekend spent elsewhere.

Alpine Skiing
On the Tauplitz, there’s something for every skier and snowboarder: sporty runs or gentle turns on wide, snow-covered slopes - 43 kilometers of pistes, mostly above the tree line, with 360-degree panoramic views, a real sense of freedom, and plenty of sunshine.

Freeriden
Tauplitz is one of the most reliable snow regions in the Alps - with plenty of fresh powder and soft pillows for your lines. The terrain is varied, and when the weather plays along, you’ll be riding in bright sunshine all day long.

Interactive Panorama
Here
you’ll find a map of the Tauplitz pistes, along with runs and lifts that are
currently open, and a full overview of everything Tauplitz has to offer.

Winter Hiking
Two perfectly groomed winter hiking trails - one on the Lawinenstein and one through Tauplitzalm village - deliver a true alpine spectacle: 360-degree panoramic views of hundreds of surrounding peaks, plenty of snow, and - if the weather plays along - sunshine throughout the day.

Kinderland
Kinderland Tauplitz: Sunny, sheltered from the wind, and car-free - perfect for young skiers. On gentle slopes and the covered magic carpet, children learn to ski through play, while their parents can simply relax and enjoy the sunshine.

Cross-Country Skiing
The cross-country trails on the Tauplitzalm are geared toward more active skiers. On the trails close to Hotel Berghof, you’ll quickly find your own skiing rhythm. The trails in the valley of Bad Mitterndorf are mostly flat. The entire network is one of the longest in Austria, with outstanding views of the surrounding mountains.
